My favourite university project of this semester. We were asked to create our own identity/branding of a design studio (fictional of course) and build up a recognisable logo, colour scheme and secondary language.

'Nice One! Creative' Logo |
The logo was inspired by 'teacher's stamps'. You know those ones you received in primary school that made you feel just a little bit special? This is where the star shape entered, 16 points means it can be created out of smaller (conveniently) business card shaped rectangles. 'Nice One!' itself is a term I use all the time, for a variety of different meanings. Keep it versatile Sam my tutor said. Another reason I used 'Nice One' was due to its relevancy. Earlier in the semester I interviewed
'The Creative Method's' Tony Ibbutson and one thing that he said really stuck with me: "the name explains the key purpose of the company". This was in contrast to agency names such as
Naughtyfish and
Frost, which do not allude to their purpose but rather confuse and misdirect.
The colours I chose for this project didn't really matter. I felt the logo was bold enough to stand alone and be recognisable without a colour scheme.
For the business cards I used a mixture of colours, some worked, some didn't. In the end I had some sort of disco themed card rack, but in reality I would choose the card based on the client. The texture was made up of stamps which I had ordered from
rubberstamps.net. Hand cut the 16pt star into the cover to show detail from inside.

In the end I am very happy with this project and I can't wait to develop it further beyond university. During the final stages of the assessment I trademarked the logo, registered the business name and bought a website domain. So... I guess I'm ready to start taking over the world, later.
